Biography: George T. Lee was the first husband of Magadaline F. Magaha, They were married in September of 1878.
George was a widower and at the time had one child. They were married for only two months when George died in an industrial
accident. The article out of the Baltimore Sun papers read: " George T. Lee, age forty years, a stevedore on the steamship
Calvert, lying at Buchanan's wharf, Frederick Street dock, while engaging in loading the vessel, yesterday afternoon, was
struck by a bag of corn, which was being hoisted in, knocked headlong down the hatchway, and, falling on his head, sustained
a fracture of the skull, and was otherwise injured. He died a few minutes afterwards. Dr. Walker, corner, was satisfied that
death resulted from accident and considered an inquest unnecessary. Mr Lee leaves a widow and one child at his late residence
on Battery Avenue, near Fort Street, South Baltimore." We do not know what happened to the child, because in the 1880 census
Magadaline was living with her Mother, but the child was not. Not sure what cemetery he is buried at, the obituary out
of the papers did not metion it. Here is the obituary taken out of the Sun Papers, " Suddenly, on 20th of November, George
T. Lee in the 41st year of his age, beloved husband of Maggie F. Lee, and son of Sarah and the late William L. Lee, of Richmond
county, Va. The funeral will take place from the M.E. Church Fourth
street, on this (friday) afternoon, at two o'clock.
