Biography: Catherine Aurelia Dorsey was the daughter of George L. and Mary A. Dorsey ( Yienger)
being born in St. Agnes Hospital ; Baltimore, Maryland on July 27, 1944. She was baptized at St. Benedict's Church located
on Wilkens Ave in Southwest Baltimore. She attented St Benedict's School from the 1st to the 8th grades and then attending
Seton High School located at that time on N. Charles Street in Baltimore. As a child Catherine lived with her family at 111
S. Franklintown Rd and at the age of 14 they moved along with Grace Yienger to 1305 Dorchester Ave. in Baltimore County. After
graduating from high school she went to work for the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn. She met and married Edwin
Singer and they had five children together, Bernadette Marie Singer lived for only 14 days. Catherine and her husband lived
in Eldersburg, MD. for 39 of their 43 years together. Catherine died of cancer on February 17, 2008 and was interred
in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
My Thoughts: I will use the name that we called my sister when we were kids,
and that was Aurelia. Aurelia was a year older than I was and as kids we were inseperable; especially after she was held
back in the fifth grade and I caught up with her in school. We did everything together from playing silly games to going to
the old Gwynn Oak Park with St Benedicts School. Aurelia was always the softtie in the family, she felt sorry for everybody.
If one could have a sister as a best friend then my sister was mine.I can remeber when my Father or Mother was taken ill we
prayed that if God would just make them better than we would behave ourselves and be the perfect little children. I don't
know if we ever achived that goal but it seemed like a good promise to make. Now that she is gone, there will be a hole
in my heart for the rest of my life.
Aurelia had five children, one passing away when she was only fourteen days
old. Her other four children and her 10 grandchildren were her life, and she was a big part of theirs. Her son Ed said
that his Mother was his hero, Ed is a young man who has served his country in both Afganastan and Iraq and he says his
Mother was his hero. If you knew Aurelia and the grace and diginity she handled her pain and suffering you would understand
why. Her daughter Allison said her mother had a big heart and she passed it on to her children, what a gift!, And knowing
her children, that is a gift that they will use for the rest of their lives. Her daughter Lisa spoke about how
difficult it will be without her mother, knowing that her Mother is in a better place. It is always more
difficult for those that are left behind. Aurelia's youngest daughter, Kristi, and her mother were inseperable. Kristi,
a registered nurse, took a leave of absence to take care of her mother. She lovingly cared for her mother's every
need, 24 hours a day, to the very end. Aurelia, you were the kindest and sweetest person that I ever knew. You always found
the good in people, and anyone who knew you were better for it. The world has 1 less person, heaven has 1 more angel.
You will always be missed. I love you
Your brother
