Biography: Nelson L. Cook was born in 1897 and was the son of William and Mary (Magaha) Cook, He met and married
Annie (do not know her maiden name), and as far as we know they had twin girls and one other daughter. Nelson died in
1921, cause of death was a bullett wound.Article taken out of the Baltimore Sun October 18, 1921; "George Vogel, 30 years
old, 1828 Jackson St, who shot and fatally wounded Nelson Cook, 1104 Burgundy St., in the Pekin Chinese Restaurant Sunday
night, was held without bail in the Southwestern police Court yesterday by Magistrate John T. Tormollan for the action of
the corner's jury tonight. Cook died at 2:45 o'clock yesterday at the Franklin Square Hospital. A third man in the party at
the restaurant, Edward Gassaway, 1021 Maltbie Street, was fired at by Vogel, but escaped. The shooting followed a quarrel
between the men after one of them had rebuked the waitress. George Vogel withdrew his plea of not gulity and pleaded guilty
of murder in the second degree, he was given 15 years in the Maryland Pententery. In the 1930 census he was still listed
as being in prison, so we are not sure of when he got out. Nelson was buried in Western Cemetery on Edmonson Ave in Baltimore.
