Biography: Catherine Lillian Dorsey was born in July 1895 to George W. and Theresa ( Magaha) Dorsey. She was baptized at St Jerome's Catholic Church and her sponsors were Nickolas Murphy and Agnes Dorsey. Catherine met and married Frederick Strobel in October of 1912. We are not sure when she divorced him, but we do know that she was living with her parents on Johnson Street in the 1920 census and it said she was still married, but Frederick Strobel was not listed at that address. She then married John Kaiser in December 1934, but he died in May of 1938. During their marriage they lived at 115 S. Franklintown Rd. After the death of John Kaiser, Catherine married Vernon Long, not sure of the date. Catherine and Vernon Long lived with John and Mary Witt at 416 Brunswick Street in Southwest Baltimore. After the death of both of their husbands the two sisters moved together to 2676 Wilkens Ave. At the time of her death Catherine was living alone at the Wilkens Ave address, so it cannot be sure of the exact date and time that she died, but it is listed on her death certificate as 22 January 1978 and, the cause of death was Arteriosclerotic Cardivoscular Disease. She was buried in New Catheral Cemetery on the 26th of January 1978.
My Thoughts: I remeber Aunt Lill living downstairs from Aunt May at 416 Brunswick Street, and after Uncle John and Uncle Vernon died they moved up to 2676 Wilkens Ave, in the same block as St. Benedict's Church.I also remeber her working in the school cafeteria along with Aunt May, but the thing I remeber most was her total inability to drive a car. She was taking some of the us kids home when we were living on South Franklintown Rd. and she was going the wrong way on a one way street, and we said Aunt Lill this is one way and her remark was hell I'm only going one way. I also remeber Aunt Lill liked to tip a few like the rest of the Dorsey clan. As I recall many times we would stop at Matuskis in Riveria Beach, on our way to Cousin Mae's, for her to play the slots and to drink a cold one. After she got a little older and retired you could always find her down at Adam's Bar. I used to always drink a beer and eat a crab fluff when I went to see her. Damn the crab fluffs were good.
