Raymond G. Vansant

Biography: Raymond G. Vansant was the oldest son of William and Elizabeth (Lizzie) (Dorsey) Vansant. He was born in September of 1890 and his mother died when he was only seven years old. After her death, his father went to live with his parents and Raymond and his sister went and lived with Aunts and Uncles. Why Raymond's father did not live with his children is any one's guess. Raymond never married, and lived with his relatives until he was admitted to Spring Grove Hospital. According to his draft registration card in 1917 his occupation was listed as a laborer for the City of Baltimore, and in 1920 he was listed as machinist on a Steam Railroad and in the 1930 census he was listed as a clerk in an office. Raymond died in September 1951, by that time Catherine Lochboehler had died, whom he had live with almost his entire life. We are not sure when he was admitted to Spring Grove State Hospital. Cause of death was conary accluim and general arterialscrelerosis, he was also dianosis with senile phychosis. According to his death certificate he was buried at University Medical School, which tells me that his body must have been used for medical research.
