Biography: William G. Vansant was the Son of George and Margaret Vansant. We do not know the exact date he was born,
but we do know that he was born in January 1866. He met and married Elizabeth Jane Dorsey, they were married in St Martin's
Catholic Church, from what I can read on the marriage certificate, he was a non catholic. William and Lizzie had three children
together. Lizzie died four days after the birth of their third child (Adele). Apparently after Lizzie's death William moved
back with his parents, and the two surviving children lived with their Aunt Catherine Lochboehler and Aunt Agnes Murphy. Why
he did not live with his children is any one's guess, but in the 1900 census it shows him living with his parents and the
children living with their Aunts. William was listed in the 1900 census as a piano polisher. William died in October of 1902,
cause of death is hard to read on the death certificate, but it looks like typhoid fever, with a secondary cause of asthima.
His obituary out of the Baltimore Sun read as follows: Vansant---------On
October 25, 1902, at No. 770 St Peter Street, William G., Husband of the late Elizabeth Vansant, and son of George W. and
Margaret A. Vansant. Interment in Mount
Olivet Cemetery this Monday at 2:00p.m.
