Biography: Catherine Lillis was born in Limerick Ireland to Roger and Susanna (Ryan) Lillis. She came to the United States aboard the ship Empire State landing in New York on November 14, 1851. She departed Ireland for the United States via Liverpool England. An Irish Genealogist told me many Irish came through England to the U.S. during the potato famine. On the ship with her were: Margaret Lillis age 11, James Lillis age 17, Pat Lillis age 12, Nick Lillis age 10. She married John Dorsey on the 26 June 1852 and they had eleven children together, many who died at a very young age. John and Catherine lived most of their married life at 1026 S. Paca Street, the home is no longer there. After John's death , he left the house to Catherine and her five unmarried daughters. Before her death she moved with her daughters (Mary and Margaret) to 1606 Hollins St.  Catherine died on 29 of June 1901 and was interred in  New Catheral Cemetery on  the 2nd of July 1901. John, her husband was orginally interred at St Peter's Cemetery, but was relocated in New Cathreal Cemetery along side of Catherine. her obituary taken out of the Baltimore Sun read as follows: " Dorsey --- On June 29, 1901, Catherine, relic of the late John Dorsey, a native of the city of Limerick Ireland.
